Illumina Voices is a women's choir based in Adelaide, South Australia

We are a vibrant group of women with a strong community spirit. We share a love of choral music, singing and performing together as well as having a good time.

Our aim is to develop and broaden our choral skills in classical, sacred, traditional, contemporary and world music. We present two major performances each year to demonstrate these different styles.

We would love to invite you on a vocal travelogue … featuring famous folk-related tunes from around our world.

‘THE WORLD IS OUR HOME’

In our upcoming concerts, we fly from the Antarctic Land with The Wanderer to the far northern hemisphere with famous choral gems along the way - Carrickfergus in Ireland and the iconic Danny Boy. We remember the ‘lost’ folk in Ralph Mc Tell’s 1969 Streets of London; experience the Saami ‘yoik’ - Song of the Earth (Eatnemen Vuelie) from Frozen; the vivacious Gypsy Serbian dance - Niska Banja; and the powerful Swahili setting of The Lord’s Prayer: Baba Yetu from South Africa. Included in the program is a bracket of folk rock: Leonard Cohen’s famous Hallelujah and the gloriously heart-warming Bridge Over Troubled Water from Simon & Garfunkel. We then head home with Marta Keen’s gorgeous, wistful setting of Homeward Bound.

Included in the program will be the ILLUMINA HAND CHIME ENSEMBLE: back by popular demand! And our Guest Clarinetist: Elizabeth Neal Conductor: Glenni Lynelle and Accompanist: Helen Angove
