ILLUMINA VOICES
presents
United We Share

DIRECTED BY GLENDA LYNELLE
ACCOMPANIED BY HELEN ANGOVE
GUEST ARTIST:  JACOB WILSON - PIANIST

Whilst celebrating cultural differences and honouring the United Nations Year of Indigenous Languages in 2019, Illumina Voices will take you on a journey of UNITY through DIVERSITY, where MUSIC is the universal language. We find our shared music bringing us connections with people, ideas, hopes, dreams and at the same time, honouring all that is different between us.

Kayama and In Caelum Fero from Songs of Sanctuary  by Karl Jenkins and Eatnemen Vuelie by Frodhe Fjellheim (Frozen) with their world music feel; beautiful classical gems – Al Shlosha and Nigra Sum; toe-tapping Juntos by Jim Papoulis; a gorgeous acappella arrangement of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah; the thought-provoking United We Share by Rosemary Nairn and the fabulous Baba Yetu (The Lord’s Prayer in Swahili) written by Christopher Tin, are among the wonderful repertoire of this concert.

Guest Artist Jacob Wilson - Pianist

Jacob is a multi-talent pianist who has been playing since the age of 6 years and enjoys playing a wide variety of musical styles, especially classical music. Jacob is also a medical student. He has appreciated opportunities throughout secondary school to develop his skills as a solo performer and accompanist, playing in orchestras, big bands and other ensembles.  Jacob is our accompanist Helen Angove’s grandson.  It is such a joy and inspiration to witness grandmother and grandson playing together to support our singing.

Come and immerse yourself in this rich selection of choral works as we celebrate our combined humanity through song.

The choir is a not-for-profit organisation who proudly support health projects associated with women, children and families.
